For some people when you say mixed
media they immediately are afraid because they imagine adding media elements
that they do not have at home, mixed media simply is when you add two or more
different media elements. Adding
permanent marker to your canvas makes it a mixed media piece. Today we think of mixed media as adding
paper, ink, sprays, texture and all sorts of interesting media to our
canvases. You do not have to add the
paper to a piece, in fact you can paint your background and then begin adding
the stenciled elements. I always try to
add the painted instructions when I have used scrapbooking papers to my
projects. In this project I used scrap
pieces that I had in my stash for the background, any similar papers are going
to work. I used a dark blue background
with tan colored stars for the larger side and a neutral flourished piece for
the smaller front piece and sides, any neutral piece will work. Six photos are included in the pattern to help you paint this piece.
